This is one of the best physics books currently in print. It's the chosen text of the Stanford University basic physics course. It's clearly written and understandable, yet thorough.

Not suitable for self-study

Note 1: If you have a decent professor/teacher (which I don't claim to have been), this can be a good book since my main complain is with Newton's Laws and Electric circuits chapters.
Note 2: This is an algebra-based book. Giancoli also has a calc-based book with "for scientists and engineers" on the title.
Note 3: I consider Cutnell & Johnson to be the best book at this level, and that one is suitable for self-study.
