This is the new, improved, REVISED edition! Elizabeth Bennet Collins cannot bear to think of the life that awaits her at Hunsford Parsonage as the wife of her father’s cousin, the odious Mr Collins! Riding in the ‘Carriage of Doom’ with her gloating husband her mind alternates between dreading her future and reflecting with chagrin and mortification on her conduct toward Mr Darcy at the Netherfield ball - and what she learned from him then.
Arriving at last in the neighbourhood of the parsonage, Mr Collins insists that they must stop at Rosings Park - where a terrifying Lady Catherine de Bourgh greets her clergyman’s new bride whip in hand!
After the Netherfield ball and his confrontation with her, Fitzwilliam Darcy’s warm and tender but forbidden dreams of loving Miss Elizabeth Bennet suddenly become dreadful nightmares of attending her wedding to the odious Mr Collins!
Relieved to awaken from their nightmares, Elizabeth and Darcy each experience confusion about what really did occur on that fateful occasion. Each is deeply shaken by the revelations of the night.
Lizzy takes a long walk to Oakham Mount to work off the vestiges of her ill-humour and settle her spirits – well aware that Mr Collins, heartily encouraged by her mother, awaits a private audience with her.
Darcy goes for a long hard ride to work off his distress and order his thoughts – for he knows he must do something…
Their chance meeting on Oakham Mount both clarifies and complicates things. Darcy wishes to court her but discovers that he must first overcome Miss Elizabeth’s ill-opinion of him. He begins by agreeing to warn her father and the neighbourhood about Wickham’s predacious ways.
Unfortunately their efforts do not serve to protect Elizabeth’s young and foolish sister Lydia from seduction by Wickham. She and her sister Kitty are caught sneaking into the family home after meeting Wickham in the woods. Mr Bennet refuses to force a marriage between his youngest daughter and the cad but the Bennets must plan how to protect Lydia’s and Kitty’s reputations.
In the meantime, Caroline Bingley engages in a desperate plot to rid herself of “Miss Eliza’s” interference in her machinations to secure Darcy for herself. The results are quite shocking.
The Bennets prepare to leave Longbourn for a long stay in the north in case of an “increase” in the family. But they must have a plausible story to explain their departure – and where will they go?
Several unexpected alliances are formed as the attraction between Elizabeth and Darcy, and Bingley and Jane struggle to survive and find their way through everything from misunderstandings to deadly trials.

Very Good Read
By NIKI18
I enjoyed this P&P What-If very much. Lizzy Bennet knows three things as she goes to sleep after the Netherfield ball: Her mother expects her to marry Mr Collins; she fears that the dreadful prospect may be inevitable; and she has deeply offended Mr Darcy by confronting him so harshly.
Darcy is angry and frustrated to know that Lizzy has heard Wickham's lies about him. In addition, having overheard Mrs Bennet's crowing about Mr Collins' expected proposal, he is shaken to the core at the thought of Lizzy wedding the odious man. His attraction to is at war with his prideful disapprobation of her family and condition in life.
Elizabeth's and Darcy's intense dreams after their hostile encounter at the Netherfield ball revolve around the anxieties inspired by the night's events. A psychic connection operates through their dreams to promote their inevitable drawing together.
Darcy quickly realizes that he loves her, but Lizzy's opinion of Darcy is improved but she must be convinced that he is worthy and that she loves him. The other P&P characters (and a few new ones) must have their part in the story as well. Alliances are formed under dangerous circumstances which change the course of many lives. There is foolishness and treachery aplenty to confuse and tangle and delay the timeless dance of love and courtship.
The story ends just as we hoped and as it ought, yet I can't wait for the sequel. I want to know whether Mr Wickham really ... or what finally became of... well, I don't want to be a spoiler!

A twist in the familiar story, in desperate need of an editor
By sandy
This story has quite a few differences from the original, an interesting variation, and to the author's credit, what we consider to be the foregone conclusion is in doubt. A strange dream sequence at the beginning starts E B & F D on the right path, but Caroline and Wickham are a poisonous pair determined to write their own ending. However, the language! What a hot mess of Mr. Collins gone wild, to expressions from the Deep South, to current vernacular and back and forth- it made me angry that nobody bothered to clean up the mess before publishing. Often the story and the characters were all but suffocated in the quicksand of the language. At one point even Mr. Darcy was speaking in the manner of a gangster. Please! JAFF almost never approaches the genius of the originals, but we fans should at least demand better. Kudos for an interesting twist but shame on the poorly written telling of it. BTW, no sensitive reader would be offended by the content. I give this 5* for an interesting plot and 1* for the poor execution, overall ***+.

The Story Is Unique and Worth Reading......Though the Editing and Grammar Use was Inferior
By K. Pease
The story took me places I was very glad to go. The whole book was well outlined and the story was a well done diversion for the weekend. The beginning had me so shocked at how very wrong it was that I was captivated on how all would be set to rights. It was not confusing, just a new twist on a story told and retold, and I am glad that the author put her spin on it.
However, the 'editor' of this book obviously not care for this book at all....The extra spaces and the hanging letters (rare but so very annoying) were not fun to read, but the biggest complaint is that almost every sentence has an italicized word or phrase, like those of us who are reading a sequal to P&P are not competent to understand the important words in a sentence, especially in one of these variations. I felt like she was a very condescending author, and eventually stopped totally caring about what she tried to make important as it was overdone. Some words were italicized that should not have been, usually between words that may have needed it, but it was pervasive enough to completely lose the meaning of using them. I do hope that this is not really the style of the author!
